2016 Favourites

This is a list of 2016 favourites.

Some came out in 2016, some I just discovered in 2016 and some I just continued using in 2016. I hope these can help you with your future purchases for 2017! Let me know if we have any in common and what your favourites are below.

I also included favourite moments of 2016. It's a nice reminder that even though it was a crazy year for a lot of people there are still amazing times. Don't forget all the good when you're going through the bad!

Make Up Favourites

 

I wanna say first that I am no professional. These are just things that work for me and I've used continuously. This is what I use on a daily basis. I don't wear everything everyday but I wear all or a combination of these on a daily basis. I'm not going to feature them all in full detail but this give you an idea of my standard make up.

Almost everything I use can be purchased at Sephora. The only thing that cannot is the eyebrow pencil which is from Daiso.

Smashbox Colour Correcting Pencil

As you can see this is used. haha I purchased this in the summer from Sephora after trying it in store. It helps huge with dark circles under my eyes. It doesn't prevent or improve issues but it sure does a good job covering it up. I use this often under my BB cream or just by itself whenI don't wear much make up. Smashbox Colour Correcting Pencil

Smashbox Water Primer

 

This is awesome for so many things. Obviously as a primer but it also works as a setting spray, a moisturizer and you can use it to wet brushes to make pigments of shadows stronger. It's really a great staple. I've repurchased it twice now. It's super useful and I highly recommend everyone test it out. Saves money on buying a setting spray and primer for sure! Lord and Berry Maximatte Lip Pencil

2016 was the year of the matte lip. Though I tried many new lip products and I could say that the Too Faced matte lip and Kylie Candy K are also in my favourites, I wanted to highlight the more unexpected. This is an awesome the colour is like a nicer version of my lips. It's matte and because it's a pencil it's super easy to control. I received this in my Ipsy bag and haven't stopped using it since. I am definitely going to repurchase this one.  You cannot buy this one at Sephora though. Check out the link here.

Skin Care Favourites


Naive Face Wash

This face wash is something of magic! Also it's SO affordable at 3-5 dollars depending on where you purchase it. I cannot say enough how much I've used it. My face feels so clean and I've now bought all the others to try. Hopefully they are as awesome as the peach! I also pictured the mini Foreo (the bay has it on sale with bonus extras). It's not one of my favourites but I have to say it's much better then the reviews people had left online for it. I've used it for about 6months now and it hasn't died yet. If you want to test out Foreo brand I recommend you try this out first. It's about a 3rd of the cost of the regular one and you can use it for travel. I wouldn't buy it again though. I will probably be purchasing the full size. Also if you want to buy the Naive face wash too; I found it here on Amazon.


Glam Glow - Everything

 

This is one thing I hear a lot of people are unsure if it's worth the price. YES yes yes. There us actually a sample one out now for 50 dollars so you can try them all and what is best for you. I personally love the green and black masks the best but there are many options designed for different problems. They also have a lip scrub, chapstick, moisturizer and many more items.

I highly recommend this brand (though truthfully the naive face wash will be replacing the glam glow face wash in the future). Sephora has all of the glamglow collection but if you want to save 10-20 dollars you can check out Winner's and Marshall's. They carry them often but sell out fast.

Pur-Lisse - Everything!

This is a new brand for me. I was sent pieces through IPSY (thank you) and I have to say everything they have sent me is AMAZING! I've got super sensitive skin (for those of you who also have issues anything I use is safe for you!) The chapstick I am wearing today! Everything is super gentle and moisturize great! I love the mask it was very gentle on the skin but still my face felt clean and fresh after. I am definitely going to buy more of them in 2017! If you're interest you can get their stuff here! Lush and their Bath Bombs

   

If you follow me on any social media you know I have Lush issues. End of 2016 started my bath bomb ritual.  It's almost as bad as a wine habit because it's not cheap. I use a bath bomb once a week now. Lush feeds this addiction by constantly putting out new things in which I need to try. lol I also got the Christmas lip scrub; which is delicious and awesome. I plan to try their sea salt spray I hear it's amazing. I will do a haul and review next time I go.

I post them once a week (or twice if I forgot to do it the week before haha) If you don't have a lush near you (of if you can't get in the store because it is overwhelming smells with 50 different types of smells) you can purchase online and lush gives you full details of what everything does and smells like.

Lush has amazing service. Before Christmas I bought a box of bath bombs and when I got home I opened it to find it was half broken. I posted on their facebook and they held a new box for me for several weeks until I was able to go back. Exchanged it without hassle.

Hair Products Favourites

I didn't have many favourites for hair this year. Which is strange because usually am way more focused on my hair. I think i will have to change this for 2017. 


Bumble and Bumble Repair Blow Dry

Bumble and Bumble. lol I thought it was Bubble and Bubble for most of the year. However, I discovered this early last year from a Sephora event a Friend and I went to. I love the repair leave in the most. I use it even when I don't blow dry my hair. It gets rid of frizz and just makes your hair so much softer.  There is a noticeable difference between using and not using for sure. This hair spray is great if you are like me and don't want your head to feel like a rock. They have stronger ones too that work great. I will say the spray I'm not 100% convinced on as it expensive and doesn't seem to be anything special. I snagged these at a salon for 20% off because I got my haircut there but you can get all their products on Sephora as well.


Batiste Dry Shampoo 

If you're gross like me and try to wash your hair as little as possible this is the product for you. Nothing compares to this dry shampoo. I have bought many other brands (including a Joyco one; which was GARBAGE and way more pricey). There are a bunch of different smells and one designed for dark hair. I don't particularly like flowery scents, so this one in particular is for me. It's like a mix of coconut,mango and pineapple; Tropical. I've used this when my hair was darker too. You just need to make sure you brush your hair a lot more when your hair is darker. I heard the one for designed for dark hair is quite messy, so I never tried it. The rest of the Baltiste sprays seem to be exactly alike except for the smell.

You can get this at Winner's and Marshall's cheaper then anywhere else. I always stock up when I go. They seem to always be in stock and available. You can also get it here on amazon.

Lolita Favourites


Milky Cross

 

I love this print. It screams everything Jackie. Kitties, Dark but cute, gothic but sweet. It didn't come out this year but it was the first year I wore it! One of my goals for 2017 is to wear my lolita more. I am always busy with work but I am going to attempt at least attending 2-3 meets this year lol.


Angelic Pretty Halloween items

          

 Every year Angelic Pretty destroys my wallet around Halloween. 2016 was no exception. I'm super happy with everything ^_^ I got a bag,pair of shoes,cardigan, 2 necklace, a ring, and the bat headband.

Other Favourites

Pokemon

    

There is no denying Pokemon was huge again in 2016. I think I'm 1 of very few still playing Pokemon GO. If Pokemon GO didn't get you, the release of Sun and Moon on the DS was just as addictive. I have to say I loved it, though I will say I got a little bored because it was so easy. The Litten was my starter (of course ☺ ). I will say it's brought back my love for Pokemon and a starting of more things to collect lol.I started collecting the pokemon center buttons and Now have a couple more pokemon things around the house.

Toro - MMMmmm...

While sashimi is definitely not something new to me or anyone. I feel like I ate more fish in 2016 then I have in previous years. This year I'm no longer eating red meat so I am sure this is a trend that will continue.


Random Stuff

Toy Story and Vans = AWESOME!! like every mature adult I am walking around with this backpack I purchased Septemberish 2016.

MY NAILS! These were my favourite. As you can see I got them done at Minoko. Which I have mentioned before how awesome they are and I will continue to go to them in 2017!


Starbucks drink

Though CLEARLY the gingerbread is the best latte, it's only available at Christmas time. I started drinking coconut milk in 2016 and I'm slowly removing all dairy from my diet. (except pizza... I don't care I'm never giving up pizza lol)  My Starbucks drink is pretty much the same year round. I get a Latte made with coconut milk and then 1 pump of flavour. The flavour is where the sugar is and so I try to avoid putting too much in. I believe a regular Venti drink has 3-4 pumps. I usually get Vanilla but Christmas is Gingerbread. I also love a lot of their Teas. I usually just pick those up at London Drug because it's cheaper.


BEST Cat of 2016

     

HAHA just kidding I can't pick... Though Momo is clearly the better behaved one. lol I love them both so much and they are definitely a favourite every year I've had em (Momo is 9 in May and Kimi is 3 December). To those who are "Dog People" : I like dogs too, but I can promise you if you meet these two you will change your mind at least a little on kitties. Favourite Moments

Though 2016 was a hard year, there was also a lot of awesome! My Friend Momo moved from China to Vancouver. My cousin Melissa and one of My Waifu's Clara came to visited me. I went to several beauty events with several ladies <3 I saw a musical with OMG. I turned 30 and partied with some awesome friends. I met Daniels family. Daniel and I went to San Francisco. I finished a Halloween Costume for the first time in years lol. Daniel and I went to my parent's for Christmas. He met some of my crazy family. We went to Niagara falls and Downtown Toronto for dinner. Cat cafe, All the make up events, Movies, Fan expo, Nights out and getting my nails done with mah ladies; so many things. LOL did anyone notice that some shots I had red hair? haha I totally forgot that for the first few months my hair was red and then fire ombre. Done by SalonOJackie. Might be doing something new soon too.
