Miniso make up Review
Hey Lovelies!
I'm back with some reviews. I have been holding out stuff for youtube but I couldn't contain myself anymore! I still have some plans for the first view videos.
So there is a new store in Vancouver called Miniso. It's a store original from Japan. I'm super excited alllll the Japanese stores are coming to me! We're also getting a Muji and Uniqlo this fall. We also already have Daiso and many other Asian stores in the Aberdeen mall. I'm sooo happy. Bring that 109 to meeeeee.
~~~~~~~~~
Miniso is similar to Daiso. Thing its like a mixture of a Ikea and a high end dollar store and everything is cute! They have a ton of make up and I'm sure everyone, like me, is wondering if it is worth it. Japan and Korea in general are known for great eye products and skin products that don't break the bank so I figured I'd give some of Miniso products a shot.
So I picked 5 products:
* Shiyokubutsu BB cushion
* Make up Beauty Powder Pack
* Long Lasting Curling Mascara
* Miniso Brown 03 Brow Pencil
* Miniso Black Ink liner
Here is what they look like on. Few products aren't from Miniso: The Matte lip is Angel from Kylie Cosmetics, Liner is Too faced and the Bronzer is Nyx.
Overall there were some really big hits and some really big misses. I actually love the packaging of most of it. There are definitely things I will be repurchasing and some things I just can't use. I assume by the cheapness of all of these things that they are not cruelty free, I'm not sure though. If you know please let me know!
Shiyokubutsu BB cushion
This BB cushion was the most Expensive of the products retailing at about 9 CAD. haha so cheap. There were 2 shades both were really light. I tried both on in store but clearly the lighting was a bit off. This is too light for me, at least for the summer. I probably needed the darker shade. For those who are wondering this shade is called "ivory". lol it should have been called "white out" or "snow" it's so white. I'm not the palest person I know but I'm pretty close and I had to put on bronzer so I didn't look weird.
It is light to medium coverage which wouldn't bother me normally but I've been having skin issues the last couple weeks (Explaining in the next post). It didn't sink into my pores but it did cling to dry patches under my eye. It was build-able and easy to apply and use. It had a matte finish but wasn't drying or crunchy on the skin. I wish there were more colour options.
This one was a mistake actually. I thought I was buying translucent powder that is packaged the exact same way. The Powder retails at about 7-8 CAD. It comes in 3 shades that all basically looked the same similar to the BB cushions.
The colour is pretty translucent so it kind of works like the translucent powder I was looking for. It is light weight and doesn't sink into the pores. I used this to bake the BB cushion. It seemed to work great together. It came with a sponge to apply it with but the sponge is just garbage. I used a brush and there was a bit of fall out but for the price amazing quality.
If I was going to recommend anything from these products this would be it. This mascara retails at about 4 CAD and works better then some I've tried that cost 40. It literally hits everything I look for in a mascara.
The brush and packaging are simple as straight forward. It lasts all day and is waterproof but also not difficult to remove. It gives a natural volume and lengthening effect and just honestly is amazing. It's not flaky, I don't look like I'm wearing spiders on my eyes and it applies easily. I will be re-buying this and I might test out some more of the mascaras there as well.
Some of you may know from previous blogs, My favourite brow pencil is from Daiso. This one is very similar. It retails at about The colour is a great match and there were a TON of options for brown and liners. I really felt a little lost on which to to buy. The pencil cost about 3-4 CAD.
Daiso brow pencil is no longer available at least at the one by me and this may replace it. I really like it. I wish the shape of the pencil was a little thinner for more control but other then that this is a great product.
It comes with a spooly on one hidden end to help but out the colour and give a more natural look.
Finally.. The only REALLY BIG disappointment. This product was just terrible. It cost about 3-4 CAD similar to the brow and there were tons of options in colour as well as style. Japan is known for their ink liners so I figured this would be my best option.
It swatched great in the store and on my hand as you can see. However trying to apply it was a whole different world. Which is why it's important to remember swatches on hands and arms aren't always accurate. I try to use this product on both eyes but it just wouldn't go on smooth as you can see from the photo (ignore how horrible my skin is and how red around my eye is)
Fair to say... I won't be purchasing it again.
