Toronto December 2016
Hey Everyone!
Last of my December trip home series. We did a lot of eating in Toronto. Unfortunately I started getting sick (which I later found out was with a chest and sinus infection) So we didn't end up doing as much as we wanted to.

My friend Angela, Daniel, My sister; Caitlin, her boyfriend; Phil, and I drove down from Oshawa. First we set up at our hotel.
We stayed at the Hotel Victoria on Youge st. It's not a very large or fancy hotel but the staff was great and the rooms we're clean. Great for short stays and not too pricey either. They do not have parking (Which isn't uncommon for downtown hotels) but they directed us to the closest cheapest place for overnight. It was a really good deal for downtown Toronto for sure. They even let us check in early so we could put our stuff down before wandering. The only thing I could complain about is the lack of ice machines on every floor.
We went back to the hotel to change and get ready for dinner. We met up with my Waifus Clara and Jess at the hotel. I for some reason have no photos of them; just food from dinner. >_< Clearly we were hungry!
Clara booked a table at Miku for us. It's a Fancy Japanese style restaurant. This is where I was reminded how spoiled I am living in Vancouver. Everything was delicious but SO expensive. In Vancouver things are a lot cheaper and just as good. It wasn't a place for me overall I just felt it was uncomfortably fancy.
Anyways here is a series of food porn:

We stayed at the Hotel Victoria on Youge st. It's not a very large or fancy hotel but the staff was great and the rooms we're clean. Great for short stays and not too pricey either. They do not have parking (Which isn't uncommon for downtown hotels) but they directed us to the closest cheapest place for overnight. It was a really good deal for downtown Toronto for sure. They even let us check in early so we could put our stuff down before wandering. The only thing I could complain about is the lack of ice machines on every floor.

Next we went for lunch at Angela's and My favourite hangout. Jack Astor's. We used to go often when I lived in Toronto. Why you ask? ...

The Garlic Bread!!! They also have glasses with funny saying and tables to draw on. haha So it's a real classy place. I do recommend you check one out if you're in Ontario. (They do have a couple more through out Canada but it's much bigger in Ontario)

C.N Tower
The CN tower is one of those things you definitely have to do in Toronto. That being said try to get into the rotating restaurant. It's a much better experience then just going to the general public Viewing. Also if you've been once... I don't think you really need to go twice.
It took us about 45-mins to an hour in line waiting to go up the elevator. Which is about usual. It can be worse during really crazy days in the summer the good news is there is A/C and Pokemon stops/gyms. haha

The view from the Glass Floor (Caitlin and Daniel risking it) A lot of people lay on it which I'm sure makes for a good photo but also covers a lot of the view for the rest of us.

My and Daniel in front of some of the CN tower windows.

The CN tower is always lit up different colours. During christmas: Christmas colours, during Leaf games: leaf colours. I actually used to live right next to it on queens quay.
Once we were done we walked through the Sky walk and dropped off Caitlin and Phil at Union station. It's a great short cut but also warm! There are a lot of ways to stay out the cold in downtown Toronto. If you're going in the winter is a good idea check it out.
We wanted to go to Steam Whistle Brewery but it closed at 5 for tours. I know the tour is pretty cool and you get to pull the whistle at the end. If you're a bear drinker I suggest you check it out it's right across from the CN tower and is very cheap to do.

Dinner at Miku

Anyways here is a series of food porn:

Miso Soup and Edamame beans

Sashimi and mix of appetizers

Sushi and Steak
Dessert
Variety of Sake (the unfiltered was my fav)
Unfortunately at this point I'd gotten sick so I basically just passed out after this. We had planned to go to a few bars on queen street for live music but it wasn't going to happen with my on coming chest and sinus infection.
The Next Morning

Next to the Hotel Victoria is a breakfast place. Was pretty tasty and has mimosas!

We were supposed to goto the Eaton Center, Dundas square and Kensington Market but Everyone was feeling sick and so we just headed home. It sucks because I really wanted Daniel to see mroe of the cool things from my home town. Though honestly I think he'd seen enough of malls between boxing day and the outlet in Niagra Falls. I hope next time we can come home in the summer together.. like 2019? haha
~~~~~~~~
Later that Night (our last night in Ontario) We had drinks with some of my Old friends and Family at another classy restaurant called Montana's. Similar to Jackastor's but no amazing Garlic Bread
~~~~~~~~
That's it! The next day we flew home. I was a disaster by the time we
landed from being sick (which you shouldn't fly but I didn't think i was
that bad) that there wasn't many photos. It wasn't the most exciting
ending. Our luggage was slow and we were in need of a nap.
That's the end of my Trip home. Have you every been to Toronto? What are your favourite things there? My next trip will be a lot longer of a flight **cough** Japan **cough** or maybe Sweden first if things work out right. If you like the travel blogs I shall have more soon!
thanks for reading!
